Hello all, the name's Robyn! I'm horrible at the whole "about me" junk. I'm a girl. I like girls. It may be a little more complicated than that but I don't like to dwell on it. If something manages to grab my attention for more than like 3 seconds it will likely end up here.
You know that study that found when doing a blind taste test the majority of people prefer pepsi over coca cola so coke changed their recipe to taste more like pepsi, and people actually liked the new coke a lot less because the people who were buying coke didn’t want it to taste like pepsi they wanted their coke to taste like coke. That’s what a lot of the new changes tumblr is working on feel like.
Favorite thing about renaissance faires is that they have fuck all to to with the renaissance. This thang is not about historical anything this is about dressing up like a fairy and watching a joust
really doubt the ostrich is enjoying being used as a pillow by Heavy Baby but she can’t DO anything about it because Heavier Mom is probably standing just off-camera
Replacing physical buttons and controls with touchscreens also means removing accessibility features. Physical buttons can be textured or have Braille and can be located by touch and don’t need to be pressed with a bare finger. Touchscreens usually require precise taps and hand-eye coordination for the same task.
Many point-of-sale machines now are essentially just a smartphone with a card reader attached and the interface. The control layout can change at a moment’s notice and there are no physical boundaries between buttons. With a keypad-style machine, the buttons are always in the same place and can be located by touch, especially since the middle button has a raised ridge on it.
Buttons can also be located by touch without activating them, which enables a “locate then press” style of interaction which is not possible on touchscreens, where even light touches will register as presses and the buttons must be located visually rather than by touch.
When elevator or door controls are replaced by touch screens, will existing accessibility features be preserved, or will some people no longer be able to use those controls?
Who is allowed to control the physical world, and who is making that decision?
Maybe she’s born with it. Maybe it’s 3 years of constant hormone therapy, 4 years of voice training, 12 sessions of facial hair removal, bottom surgery by the best surgeon in the country,
Ian Stone, Doubting Thomas, oil on linen, 12x16 in, 2023
“If you know the painting by Caravaggio, Doubting Thomas, it was my direct inspiration for this piece.
A doubting Thomas is a skeptic who refuses to believe without direct personal experience. 50-60 years ago, it was not uncommon for people to think or believe that being gay was a phase or a mental illness or deviance in some shape or form. It’s embarrassing that the same things are being said about trans people today.”
STOP SCROLLING!!! THIS IS NOT A PHOTO IT’S OIL ON LINEN!!!!!!!!!
